Good Shepherd lutheran preschool

Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool is a Christ-centered school. Teaching children about Jesus, their Savior, is our primary mission. Our objective is to provide the children with experiences that will help prepare them for kindergarten while at the same time teaching them about Jesus and how His Word applies to every part of their daily lives. Our preschool offers a 3-year-old (3K) program for children beginning their preschool experience and a 4-year-old (4K) program for children ages four and five to help prepare them for success in kindergarten.

OUR CURRICULUM

Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool is affiliated with St. Stephen’s Lutheran School in Beaver Dam.

A typical day at our preschool is centered around the Word of God. Activities will include specific themes each week, and using these themes, we explore all curriculum areas (language arts, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, pre-math, art and science) in a developmentally-appropriate, creative fashion.

Our Objectives

  • To work with parents in teaching the truths of God’s Word.

  • To encourage each child to speak to God in prayer.

  • To inspire love of learning.

  • To teach cooperation in working and playing with others.

  • To provide new learning experiences.

  • To provide good listening and speaking experiences.

  • To give each child the opportunity to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies and school-administered programs.

For more information or to enroll your child, visit our Facebook page or contact our director, Mrs. Kim Steinberg.

The Preschool has been an essential part of our children’s education. We have had two kids go through the Preschool and wouldn’t have had it any other way. We appreciate the dedication to our children and the importance of a Christian-based curriculum that will be carried throughout their lives.

Extended Care

An Extended Care program is available for children enrolled in one of the preschool programs. Care is available from 6:30am to 5:30pm on days that preschool is in session. Primary care providers will be Mrs. Theel, Mrs. Chavez-Schepp, and Mrs. Heyer. They offer Christian-based care with age-appropriate activities.

Families can use Extended Care for their convenience on days their child has a preschool session or as their primary childcare.

Additionally, we offer Extended Care for two-year-old children of our preschool families. Two-year-olds do not need to be potty trained to attend Extended Care.

Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, the cost per child for Extended Care is as follows:

First 15 hours each week: $5.50/hour
Hours over 15 each week: $4.50/hour

Extended Care hours will only be charged for hours the child is not in a preschool session. Hours will be tracked in 15-minute increments. Families are not required to commit to any number of hours per week. Costs will be deducted weekly from a prepaid account set up for each family.

Families will be responsible for breakfast and lunch for their children, but morning and afternoon snacks and beverage will be provided by Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool. A refrigerator will be available for food brought in for the children.

Parents are asked to indicate their interest in using the Extended Care Program when they enroll their child in preschool.
For more information about Extended Care, please call the preschool at 920-885-4317.

We are confident we made the best choice when selecting a preschool for our son. The Christian-based curriculum, paired with loving instruction from the teachers, has prepared him both academically and socially for kindergarten.

Beth graduated from Madison College in 2002 with a degree in graphic design. She adapted to doing freelance artwork and teaching art at area libraries. As her family grew, she opened an in-home daycare which continued until 2020.

Beth loves creating, exploring, hiking, and canoeing but nurturing children has been the greatest inspiration for her to become the best version of herself. She knows being able to care for preschoolers at Good Shepherd is an honor and a blessing!

Amanda Schulz

Amanda Schulz is a childcare provider in the preschool’s Extended Care Program, primarily working with the two-year-olds. She has also been our church and school custodian since 2020.

When Amanda isn’t working at Good Shepherd, you can find her sitting on the bleachers or running along the cross-country trail cheering on her kids, or making numerous trips to Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills.

Christian education is a big part of Amanda’s life and family and she looks forward to being a stepping stone in our Good Shepherd Extended Care.
